A Cosmic Christmas

An original, Canadian-produced Christmas cartoon will debut on CBC-TV, Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Entitled A Cosmic Christmas, it is the story of three aliens who have been searching the heavens for a galactic marvel that took place 2,000 years ago.

Their search brings them to Earth, where they meet a young boy, Peter and his pet goose, Lucy. Peter realizes they are seeking the Star of Bethlehem and through a mixture of adventures with the townsfolk, introduces the three “strangers” to the true meaning of Christmas.

The warmth of the discovery brings a new meaning to the lives of the townspeople and particularly to Peter’s arch rival, Marvin, the gang leader.

Blessed with the knowledge that Christmas is love and doing for others, the aliens return from outer space and Peter goes home to the biggest, best Christmas ever.

Sylvia Tyson sings (on the sound track) two original songs she wrote for the cartoon: The Way That Christmas Used To Be and Why Don’t They Look to the Stars.

A Cosmic Christmas is produced by Nelvana Ltd., Toronto. Co-Producers are Patrick Loubert and Michael Hirsh of Nelvana Ltd.; writers Ken Sobol and Laura Paull; director Clive Smith; animators Robin Budd, John Halfpenny, Bill Speers, Ken Stephenson and David Thrasher.
